Emmieism's

At gymnastics:
Emmie:  I have a headache.  Can we go home early?  I'm torn between taking care of myself and finishing what I started.
Mom:  You said you had a headache at school.  Is it better or worse?
Emmie:  Worse.  It's now a monstrosity.

After playing with Charlotte:
Emmie:  We planned a bike race in the neighborhood for this weekend.  Mitch and I will be the judges.
Mom:  Why did you designate Mitch as a judge?
Emmie:  Charlotte said we need judges.  I told her we already have a judge in the neighborhood.  I know he's a court judge, but we're going to ask him to judge the bike race.

While on a dog walk:
Mom:  If you keep Patch's leash taut, she'll be less likely to pull when a car goes by.
Emmie:  If I keep the leash taut, she'd be taught a lesson (said with a smirk)?
Mom:  Yes, do you know how to spell each word?
Emmie:  Are they both spelled TAUGHT?
Mom:  No, that is how you spell taught as in taught a lesson.  Taut, as in the leash is taut, is spelled differently.
Emmie:  Is it spelled like the end of tater tot?
Mom:  No, it is spelled TAUT.
(much later in the dog walk)
Emmie:  I keep the least taut, and it taught our little tot a lesson (also said with a smirk).

Emmie got a Giant branded bike handed down to her from friends up the street.  For the first time ever, she asked to go on a family bike ride.  We rode up to Parlor City.  While putting our bikes on the rack there, Emmie was struggling:
Eric:  Your tire is bigger.  That's why it's harder for you.
Emmie:  I know.  That's why it says Giant.
