Patch is a Terrier mix and was acquired from Last Hope. She is deaf, but takes cues from the other dogs and thus, is learning rather quickly. She sleeps with Emmie and is oblivious to the hamster wheel churning (being deaf seems to be a blessing in disguise at our house). She and Emmie, being the youngest, also sleep in every morning despite the action in the rest of the house.
Emmie has willingly (most of the time) accepted the responsibilities that dog ownership entails. She goes on dog walks, helps with feed time and picked up poop for the first time, "Ewww, this is warm."
While on a dog walk, Emmie stated, "We have more dogs than humans. People are going to start calling us the crazy dog family." Eric and I chuckled at Emmie having used the word start.
Emmie randomly made a claim that she and Patch were nothing alike. Mom disagreed, "We have to feed both of you 24/7, yet you both still sneak food. Every time I go to the store, I have to buy something for both of you. You're both devious. We clean up after each of you. You both like keychains (Patch had chewed one of Emmie's keychains)." Emmie chimed in, "...and we both fart!"
